Overview

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure designed to improve the appearance of the skin. By using fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries on the skin’s surface, microneedling stimulates the body’s natural healing processes, leading to increased collagen and elastin production. This treatment is effective for reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars (including acne scars), hyperpigmentation, and improving overall skin texture and tone.

How It Works

Explanation of the Microneedling Process and Technology

  • The Procedure
    • The microneedling procedure begins with a thorough cleansing of the treatment area to remove any makeup, oil, or debris. A topical numbing cream is applied to ensure the client’s comfort during the procedure.
    • The microneedling device, equipped with a sterile, disposable needle cartridge, is then gently glided over the skin. The device creates tiny punctures, or micro-channels, in the skin at a controlled depth and speed.
    • These micro-injuries trigger the skin’s natural wound healing process, which involves three phases: inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. During this process, new collagen and elastin fibers are produced, resulting in firmer, smoother, and more youthful-looking skin.

  • Technology
    • Microneedling devices vary, with some being manual rollers and others being automated pens. At iRadiant Aesthetics, we use advanced automated microneedling pens that allow for precise control over needle depth and speed, ensuring optimal results tailored to each client’s needs.
    • For enhanced results, microneedling can be combined with topical serums, such as hyaluronic acid, peptides, or growth factors, which are better absorbed through the micro-channels created during the procedure.

Client Experience

  • During the Procedure: Clients may feel a slight vibrating sensation as the needles penetrate the skin, but the numbing cream minimizes any discomfort.

  • Post-Treatment: After the procedure, the skin may appear red and feel slightly sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn. These effects typically subside within a few hours to a couple of days, depending on the individual’s skin type and the intensity  of the treatment.

  • Aftercare: Clients are advised to avoid direct sun exposure, strenuous exercise, and harsh skincare products for a few days post-treatment. It is also recommended to keep the skin moisturized and apply a gentle sunscreen to protect the newly treated skin.
